In conventional heating and cooling systems, it’s one thermostat and one temperature for everyone. But in real life, one size does not fit all. With a ductless split system, heating and cooling can be controlled by individual rooms or spaces.
Ductless split heat pumps are not only great solutions for whole home or new constructions but make good retrofit add-ons to houses with “non-ducted” heating systems, such as hydronic (hot water) heating. They can also be the right choice for room additions. Extending or installing distribution ductwork is not feasible, and energy-efficient new homes require only a small space conditioning system.
In the GTA, many older homes have a third storey, which can never be adequately cooled by a forced air furnace in the basement. In these applications, a ductless split system is an excellent, energy efficient solution.
Ductless split systems have two main components, an outdoor condensing unit and an indoor air handling unit(s).
